Fly screens now in designer colours

A range of quality retractable insect screens is now available in powder coated colours to suit almost any decor.

The Fly Free do-it-yourself insect screens, which hit the Australian market last year, can now blend with your architrave colour or window/door frame, to enable even better ‘invisibility’.

Fly Free screens are retractable. When you need them, they are there. When you don’t need them, in winter, you can retract them. And in summer you can turn the air-conditioning on, fold away the screens and enjoy your view.

Fly Free Manager James Marriott says the retractable screens suit almost any sized door or window.

“They are ideal for use on casement, double hung or sliding windows, as well as French doors, sliding or hinged doors, and small bifolds,” he says.

“Customers can now use the powder coating option, so screens can be matched to a wide range of existing colours to freshen up their homes. The screens are easy to install, and priced to compete with the materials a handyman might buy to make his own screens, without of course all the mucking around.”

Marriott says that, as home-owners started to place a priority on being more environmentally aware, many wanted the option of insect screens, even if they installed air-conditioning.

“The screens retract into a discrete canister located on the side of the door or top of the window. From a safety perspective, they are easy to open for adults and children from school age, but not easy to open for toddlers.

“In most areas in Australia, flying insects are a pest for at least six months of the year, and in many areas for rather longer. No matter whether we choose to live near the water, on a mountain or in the bush, Fly Free can make our chosen home environment much more comfortable all year round.”
